The Woodland Public Library is excited to be hosting its second annual Peeps Diorama Contest this year. There are categories for every age as well as a group category. The viewing and judging will take place at the Peeps Diorama Show on Saturday, March 18th from 12-3 pm in the library’s Leake Room. Entries will be judged by members of the library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB) and winners will each receive a $15 gift certificate for Barnes and Nobel to purchase books. Those attending the show get to vote on a “Peeples Choice” award as well. Winning dioramas will be on display at the library after the show.
Participants may drop their dioramas off at the library starting on Wednesday, March 15th through the morning of the show, during library open hours. Dioramas can be constructed in a shoebox and should be based on a book or literary theme with the characters made from Peeps marshmallow candies. Inspiration can be found all over the internet, including photos on our Facebook page from last year, and there is an example on display at the children’s desk in the library. Entry forms, which must accompany every diorama, are available at the library, on our Facebook page, and through the banner on the library website. These forms have all of the rules and information as well. Categories include young children, older children, teens, adult, and group/family.
Last year’s contest was full of amazing and creative entries, and we look forward to seeing what the community creates this year. Celebrate the coming of spring with a fun craft project the whole family can enjoy!
