3rd Annual Touch-A-Truck @ the Library

April 17, 2018

Saturday, April 28th will mark the third year of the amazing Touch-a-Truck event at the Woodland Public Library. Touch-a-Truck will be held from 11 am to 1 pm in the parking lot of the library at 250 First Street in Woodland, with vehicles loading in during the hour before. We will have many favorites from years past as well as new additions like a sleeper cab with trailer from Tony’s Fine Foods, a hearse from Kraft Brothers, and a model of a Star Wars TIE fighter that was built by Gerlinger Steel and Supply. Families will be able to get up close to everything, and even go on or in most of the vehicles!

The library’s book bikes will be at Touch-a-Truck with Teen Advisory Board members giving out free books to children in attendance as well as information on upcoming library events and programs. We will be happily accepting donations for the Friends of the Library who sponsor so much of our amazing programming, including our Summer Reading Program. Nugget Market has donated many cases of water, and we will have Las Brasas on site selling food for families with hungry kids.

This year we will continue to attempt a quiet hour with no horns, from 11-12, for those who would like a more peaceful atmosphere. After 12 pm there may be a little more noise, but we will try to keep it from getting too loud! We are grateful for the support of the city’s many participating departments: Public Works, Fire, Police, Waste Management, and Community Services. We also appreciate our community partners like WJUSD, Yolo Bus, the Yolo County Sherriff’s Office, PG&E, Wilkinson International, Yolo Machinery Erectors, Teichert Ready Mix, and Pioneer Machinery. We hope you will enjoy talking to the volunteers who are bringing each vehicle and learning about what each vehicle does in our community. If you have an interesting vehicle you would like to bring please feel free to contact the library!

This event is free to the public. The library’s main parking lot, along with North and First Street next to the library, will be closed for the event, but parking will be available on the west side of College Street and in the lots by the Rose Garden. We hope to see you there!
